Checkpoints & voice

A checkpoint is a short progress note on a running focus โ€” extension and Sidecar both support them; only the phone can currently hear you say one.

Extension, Tabby Sidecar (voice is Sidecar-only)
Add a checkpoint note
1

Extension

Open the checkpoint prompt from the InBar, the FocusBar, or the sidebar โ€” it asks "What have you accomplished since your last checkpoint?", then "Submit with progress level:" โ€” choose ๐Ÿ˜ None, ๐Ÿ“ˆ Little, ๐Ÿš€ A Lot, ๐Ÿ Almost Done, or ๐Ÿšง Stuck. If the InBar nudges you first, you can also โฐ Snooze 5 min or Skip this time.

2

Sidecar

The ๐Ÿ“‹ Checkpoint toggle on the Focus tab opens What have you done since the last checkpoint? (with a mic button) and the same five-level picker: ๐Ÿ˜ None, ๐Ÿ“ˆ Little, ๐Ÿš€ A lot, ๐Ÿ Almost, ๐Ÿšง Stuck.

Voice capture (Sidecar only, today)
1

Speak instead of typing

Tap the mic next to any text field โ€” setting a focus, adding a checkpoint โ€” and it fills the field from what you say.

Proactive voice check-ins (Sidecar only)
1

Turn it on

Settings โ†’ "Voice check-ins" card โ†’ "Proactive spoken check-ins" (off by default).

2

What happens

Go quiet mid-focus and Tabby asks out loud, "How's {focus} going?" Tap ๐ŸŽ™ Check in to answer any time, or just respond when it asks โ€” try "extend 10 minutes," "pause," "resume," "done," or just describe your progress.

3

Confirmation

What you say applies with a visible confirmation strip (e.g. "โœ“ Paused") and an Undo link โ€” extends don't get Undo; use โœ๏ธ Update focus instead if one was wrong.

4

Quiet hours

Shared with nudges โ€” Settings โ†’ "Work schedule & nudges" โ†’ Quiet hours start / end.

Chaperone (a related, separate opt-in)
1

What it is

Settings โ†’ "Chaperone voice" โ†’ "Personality interrupts", with its own quiet hours (Off / 10pmโ€“8am / 9pmโ€“9am). This is what speaks a nudge on a paired Context View screen if you wander off โ€” see Phone Focus Mode & the red screen.
